This plaque was provided by the Community Council and was dedicated to all the former workers of Markham Colliery

This sculpture can be found along side the cycle path in Argoed Village and celebrates the lives of three local heroes.

On the left is Jack Price depicted playing a game of quoits.

In the middle is Zephania Williams who was one of the founders of the Chartist Movement

On the right is Mrs Jill Crandon who was head teacher at Markham Primary School for many years.
